October 15, 2024The recent violence in Karachi, where Pakistani police reportedly carried out a baton charge on a tolerance committee, has sparked strong condemnation from nationalist leaders. Riyaz Ali Chandio, Chairman of Jeay Sindh Mahaz, and Sohail Abro @sohailabro81 , Chairman of Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM),@JSFMOfficialOrg expressed deep concern over the state’s crackdown on democratic rights and peaceful protests

In his video statement, Sohail Abro accused the state institutions of using force to suppress Sindhi nationalists and their struggle for self-determination. He condemned these actions as attempts to silence opposition and undermine democratic freedoms in Sindh. Abro reaffirmed that nationalist parties remain committed to their cause, emphasizing their determination to continue fighting for Sindh’s independence and their rights.
Both Chandio and Abro have called on international human rights organizations to intervene and take notice of these human rights abuses, urging for immediate action to protect the rights and safety of Sindhi activists and the broader nationalist movement. Their statements reflect a broader concern about the treatment of political dissenters in Pakistan and the harsh tactics allegedly used by state institutions to stifle activism.
